Our Elementary Education program is the ultimate launchpad for Michigan’s future teachers, specifically designed to get you classroom-ready to be an effective teacher from preschool through grade 6. We don’t just talk about teaching; we get you into the action with 264 hours of real-world observation and apprenticeship before you even start your supervised internship. This exclusive path is built for Michigan residents who are ready to make a local impact, giving you the elite skills to master two high-demand grade bands: P-3 and 3-6. After successfully completing your certification exams, you will be a certified teacher in the State of Michigan, possessing the hands-on experience and professional confidence to transform the lives of young learners from day one.
Program Entrance Requirements:
- Background check.
- All courses within the program (EDU and ELM prefixes) must be completed with a C or better.
- Admission to the 4000 EDU courses requires a B- or better in MTH 1150 and COM 1020, COM2010, or COM2050, along with an overall GPA of 2.9.

Elementary Education Content - 49 Hours
General Education - 27 Hours
Semester Hours Required for Graduation - 120
This program will not be eligible for national accreditation for 3-5 years. At that time, Baker College will apply for CAEP accreditation.
