Student Success Coaches and Student Success Teams
At Baker College, student success is a shared commitment. We believe students are most successful when they have meaningful connections, personalized support, and a clear path toward achieving their goals. That’s why every student is assigned a Student Success Coach and supported by a broader Student Success Team throughout their educational journey.
Your Student Success Coach
Your Student Success Coach serves as your primary point of contact throughout your time at Baker College. From your first semester through graduation, your coach is there to help you navigate your college experience, stay on track academically, and connect you with the resources and support you need to succeed.

First-Generation Network
At Baker College, we’re passionate about empowering first-generation students. Building a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding for these trailblazers is key to our student-first philosophy. We do this through our commitment to equity, access, and student success while addressing the unique needs of first-generation students.
A first-generation college student at Baker College refers to an individual, both of whose parents or guardians did not complete a baccalaureate degree.
We offer a variety of academic resources and collaborative opportunities designed to help first-generation students thrive on their journey to higher education. The 1st-Gen Bees is a student organization dedicated to making connections between first-gen students and staff and offering opportunities for growth, mentorship, and development. Identified first-gen peer mentors offer a one-on-one approach to relationships and support. Dedicated programming is offered throughout the year to give students an opportunity for continued development. Finally, our national recognition in the FirstGen Forward Network benefits our students through our access to support in offering scaled, holistic student support.

Student Organizations and Clubs
At Baker College, we believe the community you build around yourself, outside of class, is critical to your success. One of the many ways you can build community at Baker is through joining or starting a student organization or club. Many academic programs have affiliated clubs, but there are also clubs focused on skills (leadership, public speaking, peer mentoring, etc.) or fun (book clubs, outdoor clubs, service organizations, etc.) Students who want to join or start a club and want some guidance should contact their campus director of student affairs at dsa@baker.edu.
