For those who want to help improve the lives of others, human services can be a very rewarding field. The work of a human services professional centers on helping individuals cope with their everyday lives and developing the skills needed for self-empowerment. This involves working with a broad range of age groups (from infants to seniors) in a variety of settings that may include families, the elderly, substance abuse, residential programs, administration, child welfare, criminal justice, developmental disabilities, education, gerontology and health care. With a bachelor’s degree in human services, you will have the opportunity to serve diverse populations in a variety of non-profit, private and public sectors.
This program is in a teach-out and is no longer enrolling new students. We encourage you to explore new opportunities available at Baker College. Discover all degree programs at baker.edu/programs.
The current Human Services program, and all of the courses in the program, will be offered until the end of Fall semester 2028, at which time the degree will no longer be available at Baker College. The program will maintain its active status as the only accredited Bachelor’s of Human Services program in the State of Michigan. All graduates of the program will still benefit from the advantages of attending an National Organization of Human Services accredited program; those benefits will not be lost with the program ending.
