SUR 2570 - Surgical Technology Clinical II Credits: 4 Lecture: 0 Lab: 0
Clinical II is an advanced course designed for surgical technology students to refine their clinical skills and gain comprehensive experience in the operating room. Building upon foundational knowledge and prior clinical experiences, students will actively apply aseptic techniques, surgical instrumentation skills, and patient care protocols in diverse surgical scenarios. This course emphasizes the integration of teamwork, communication, and critical thinking to ensure patient safety and optimal surgical outcomes. Students will also develop proficiency in performing first and second scrub roles, postoperative duties, and assistant circulator responsibilities while maintaining professionalism and adaptability in dynamic clinical environments. Students must achieve 80% or better in all coursework and 80% or better on all evaluations to receive credit for this course.
