SUR 2490 - Professional Practices and Readiness for Surgical Technologists

This course prepares aspiring surgical technologists to communicate effectively, collaborate as essential surgical team members, and develop professional skills for the workplace. Through a focus on critical communication and teamwork skills, students will learn to interpret verbal and non-verbal cues, foster positive team dynamics, and manage conflict in the high-stakes surgical environment. The course also introduces the principles of Risk Management to enhance patient safety and reduce workplace risks. Students will explore career pathways, build employability skills, and examine leadership qualities to succeed and advance in surgical technology.
