HLS 4110 - AI, Runaway Technology, and Weapons of Mass Destruction

Focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, technological advances, and the alarming potential for Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMDs) to emerge in the digital age. This course explores the ethical, strategic, and policy challenges posed by the unchecked development and deployment of AI technologies in contexts that could result in WMD proliferation and global security threats. Students will be required to complete an Independent Study (IS) course from the FEMA Independent Study Program culminating in a certificate that they can list on their resume as evidence of specific knowledge in the field.
