Dean of the College of Nursing: Lesley Morgan, Ph.D.

Any nurse will tell you it can be a tough and demanding job, but that same nurse will also tell you it’s one of the most rewarding careers you can choose. This is because on a daily basis you’re helping people who need it the most. As a nurse, you’ll be both a caregiver and a problem solver, someone who helps heal people in mind, body and spirit. Compassion is critical, but you’ll also need a strong aptitude for science and critical thinking to properly treat patients.

The College of Nursing (CON) offers three tracks towards the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. The Traditional Nursing track is designed for first-time college students seeking a career as a professional nurse. The Accelerated Nursing track is for students who hold a bachelor’s degree but now wish to seek a degree in nursing. The third, Post-Licensure track, is for licensed RNs seeking a bachelor’s degree.

The BSN degree focuses on the well-rounded practitioner with an emphasis on a liberal arts education as well as a mastery or expansion of nursing knowledge. The Traditional Nursing track and the Accelerated track are available to those students who wish to obtain credentials to take the NCLEX-RN examination. The Post-Licensure track focuses on expanding the knowledge of the working nurse in the field of nursing and liberal arts.
