HIM 3010 - Principles of Management for Health Information Professionals

This course provides an overview of basic principles involved in management and communication.  Topics include basic management principles, communication skills, interpersonal communication competence, negotiation technique, team/consensus building, professional development, and problem solving/decision-making processes. This course explores key management techniques for health information professionals. The course provides an introduction to leadership models, theories, and skills along with management topics including critical thinking, change management, workflow analysis, human resource management, training and development, and strategic planning. It will help prepare graduates in planning, decision making, organizing, staffing, budgeting, and controlling processes in the health information management profession. Must complete with a B- or better.
